In February-March 1997 YUSTAT organized the first Biennial exhibition of the most successful works in professional areas related to design and technology in performing arts, in the five principal categories (event design, applied stage arts, craftsmanship, performing space and promotion of performing events). |
The first Biennial exhibition organized by YUSTAT and the Museum of Applied Art presented 135 works. A considerable number of artists received awards and public acclaim:
† Zivorad Zira Savic, stage painter and sculptor, Yugoslav Drama Theatre (Grand Prix of the Biennial of Stage Design) awarded for his overall contribution to theatre aesthetics and technology
- Bojana Nikitovic, Award in the category of Event Design / costume design
- Zoran Eric, Award in the category of Event Design / music
- Djuro Sanader, Award in the category of Applied Stage Arts / sound design
- Tihomir Mackovic, Award in the category of Craftsmanship
- Ivana Vujic and "Aeroplan bez motora" project team, Award in the category of Performing Space
- SKART group, Award in the category of Promotion of Performing Events

Vasilije Popov (stage footwear),
Nikola Krnjulac (stage carpentry),
Ljiljana Blagojevic (architecture) and
Vesna Pavlovic (photography). |
Miodrag Tabacki, Olgica Milunovic and Slobodan Masic received special awards of the 1st Biennial of Stage Design.
Special Biennial award was posthumously dedicated to Petar Stojkovic for his lifetime achievements in the creation and realization of stage lighting.
